Facebook Free Basics has only reached 1% of its 1.4BN potential audience


Mark Zuckerberg spent much of his keynote at F8 talking about the continued push around Internet.org and Free Basics. But it was Ime Archibong, director of product partnerships, and Emeka Afigbo, manager for product partnerships for Middle East and Africa, that really gave the skinny on the position here. We already knew the service was live in 37 countries, having lost two as it ran into trouble in Egypt and India, and Archibong revealed that so far 25 million people have used the free Web service, with six million added since January.
